MyJoogTV Episode 14: Dangermuffin at Sugarloaf Mountain Winery

This episode features the Folly Beach, South Carolina trio, Dangermuffin visiting Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard. The winery is the closest winery to Washington D.C. and specializes in Bordeaux varieties as well as Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. They have also been able to leverage many years of east coast wine experience, particularly from viticulture consultant Lucie Morton, to maximize results. Along with co-owner Mike McGarry, we tasted their Chardonnay and EVOE! - a blend of Merlot, Malbec, Petite Verdot, and Cabernet Franc - both showcasing the excellent wines being produced at Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard.

We quickly discovered that the members of Dangermuffin (Dan Lotti, Steven Sandifer, and Mike Sivilli) all have an appreciation for healthy lifestyles and the locavore movement -which translates easily into locapour. Particularly when the winery, such as Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, practice environmentally friendly agriculture. And as WineCompass.com repeatedly reminds its readers - there are wineries in every state - probably one within easy driving distance from you. Musically, Dan explained the concept behind the title song of their latest release, Moonscapes, which captures moments living on the beach. The band also discusses their future plans including their summer tour schedule where Wakarusa 2012 is the main event; but also the imminent release of a new CD - perhaps in May. Looking forward to that month.

This was one of the most enjoyable filming events at MyJoogTV. It was a relaxing day touring the vineyard; the fellows in Dangermuffin were friendly and appreciative guests, and the team at Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard were very accommodating hosts. MyJoogTV Episode 13: Peyton Tochterman with Starr Hill Brewery


Before preforming at the The Birchmere, Charlottesville based singer-songwriter, Peyton Tochterman, stopped by our nascent home studio for an impromptu filming of a MyJoogTV episode. While discussing the Charlottesville music scene and his latest CD, A New World, we sipped Starr Hill Brewing's Monticello Reserve Ale. This is the official beer of Monticello and brewed using ingredients Jefferson likely used two centuries ago: wheat, corn, and East Kent Goldings hops. This quickly became my favorite beer produced at the brewery. And watch the video to see why Charlottesville is more than just a home for the The Dave Matthews Band and Tochterman's spring trip to entertain our troops in Afghanistan . MyJoogTV Episode 12: Donna the Buffalo with Cirrus Vodka

Donna the Buffalo came to town this week and were very considerate to invite us onto the bus to film an episode of MyJoogTV right before their performance at the Rams Head Onstage. We started out discussing music festivals, and in particular, the inaugural Virginia Key Grassroots Festival which will be held February 9-12, 2012 just outside of Miami Beach. Combined with the two Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance and the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance, the band is working hard in 2012 to bring us some awesome music. We also discussed Donna the Buffalo's relationship with singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale as well as Tara Nevins' solo release: Wood & Stone. During the session, we enjoyed Cirrus Vodka, a potato vodka distilled in Richmond Virginia. Hope to see you one of the festivals this year. MyJoogTV Episode 11: The Steel Wheels with Blue Mountain Brewery

Episode 11 features The Steel Wheels discussing bike touring, Ocrafolk festival, and their signature brews - the Steel Wheels ESB from Blue Mountain Brewery and the Steel Wheels Oat Malt Stout from The Livery.
